World Sight Day 2018 - World Sight Day 2018
Dr. Carlos Solarte

7 Trips. 6 Countries. Countless Lives Impacted.

"There is nothing more rewarding for me than to be in a place, where the doctors have this desire for learning. I have spent countless hours, transferring knowledge and skills to local professionals. Their faces say it all. They always want more. They want to learn the more recent and state-of-the-art techniques and teach others. Their happiness and thanks is the best reward I can get."

Support VF (Volunteer Faculty): Dr. Carlos Solarte

I joined ORBIS 16 years ago. I have been in several positions on board the plane. I was Staff Ophthalmologist, Chief Ophthalmologist, Medical Director (2 different occasions) and during 2004 to 2005: Director of the Flying Eye Hospital. I am now in my role as Volunteer Faculty, connecting my residency program (I am the Residency Program director for Ophthalmology) to different locations and institutions. I am traveling now to Cameroon and I am bringing two of my residents with me for this trip, so they can learn from first-hand the challenges of learning ophthalmology in different scenarios.

We've accomplished great things together – but there's still more to do.

You can help by making a donation to support our work – and you can spread the word and build awareness on social media!

Remember – It only takes $50 to save the sight of an adult and $100 to restore the sight of a child!
