Support VF (Volunteer Faculty): Dr. James Whelan

My ORBIS trips/missions have been some of the most rewarding professional experiences of my life. The teaching, the challenging cases, the students, and the patients all have given me amazing memories and taught me things I will never forget. I owe it all to the late Dr. Bill Tasman and also Dr. Brian Leonard who both introduced me to ORBIS and suggested I would be a good fit for the role of VF.

It was my first trip to Bulgaria that got me hooked. I remember being able to treat a premature baby with laser there; that was just an amazing experience for so many reasons.

I look forward to my next ORBIS adventure!

We've accomplished great things together – but there's still more to do.

You can help by making a donation to support our work – and you can spread the word and build awareness on social media!

Remember – It only takes $50 to save the sight of an adult and $100 to restore the sight of a child!
